Sc1016 – VLAN/L2/L3 Generic Switch
Engine
Sc1016 is the ingress packet processor for switching/routing
applications. It has more than 12 Gbs wire speed
inputs stream processing from multiple MAC’s,
CPU’s or SPI4 channels. It supports the latest standard
recommendations on packet classification and handling.
Switch Engine concurrently takes packets from multiple (MAC’s ports/RISC processors/SPI4 channels). It
process the packet at wire-speed based on L2/L3/L4 header info (IPv4 and/or
IPv6). It is port speed and type
independent. IEEE 802.1Q/1D/1ah MEF compatible
The output of the SWENG (switch
engine) is the destination port, one of 4 QoS
queue of the destination port, packet color, permission ports (for bcst/mcst packets), and more. The SWENG can be easy
customized regarding the number of input ports and ingress rules.
For each port the input interface
is 64bit Simple Interface. The multiple ports/channel are
muxed in one 64bit internal bus. The packets are
concurrently and wire-speed parsed in 2 ping-pong buffers. The switch
engine will validate the packet and based on L2 and VLAN information it
will determine the output port(s), and the output QoS
queue.
Switch engine has a fast 16K entries Look-Up table, a VLAN table. It can
search DA and VALNs at wire-speed up to 12Gbs.
The output bus of the Switch
Engine toward the Multi-Queue Engine (Sc1014) is 128 or 256 bit. It can be glue-less connected to Multi-Queue Engine (Sc1014) for a full switch
implementation.
The headers are hardware wire speed processed(VLAN/L2/L3) to determine the output port/channel, to
classify(filter) or to meter the rate. The bandwidth of Sc1016 is up to
24Gbps (12Gbps Input + 12Gbps Output). The customer can select the type and
number of inputs (10G MACs, Gigabit MACs, 10/100MACs, RISC processors, SPI4-2 channels, WAN
ports) and also can select the type and number of outputs (10G MACs, Gigabit MACs,
10/100MACs, RISC processors, SPI4-2 channels, WAN ports)
